The Victron Energy Cerbo GX is an advanced communication and monitoring centre designed to bring the components of a compatible Victron power system together into one convenient interface. It collects information from connected batteries, inverter/chargers, solar controllers, managed battery systems, generators, tanks and sensors, giving users a clear overview of how their complete electrical system is operating.
With built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet connectivity, the Cerbo GX can connect to the Victron Remote Management portal for remote monitoring, control and system analysis. Users can view live information, review historical performance, receive alarm notifications and access supported system settings from a compatible phone, tablet or computer.
For convenient local control, the Cerbo GX can be paired with a separately available Victron GX Touch display, creating a dedicated touchscreen interface for the power system.

Centralised System Monitoring
The Cerbo GX acts as the central communication hub for a compatible Victron installation. It gathers information from the connected equipment and presents it through a single system interface.
Depending on the equipment and sensors installed, users may be able to monitor:
- Battery voltage
- Battery current
- Battery power
- Battery state of charge
- Solar charging output
- Daily and historical solar yield
- Inverter and charger status
- AC input and output power
- Grid, generator or shore-power supply
- DC system loads
- Tank levels
- Battery and equipment temperatures
- Generator operation
- Active warnings and alarms
- Overall system power flow
- Individual connected-device information
The exact information available depends on the connected products, communication interfaces and system configuration.
Victron Remote Management
When the Cerbo GX is connected to the internet and registered with the Victron Remote Management portal, users can access supported system information remotely.
The VRM platform may be used to:
- View live system performance
- Review historical graphs and trends
- Monitor battery, solar and AC power conditions
- Receive configured alarm notifications
- Access the GX interface through Remote Console
- Change supported settings
- Share access with an installer or technician
- Diagnose certain system issues remotely
- Download system information and reports
VRM is particularly useful for remote properties, commercial vehicles, boats, fleet equipment and off-grid installations that cannot be inspected in person every day.
Communication Interfaces
The Cerbo GX supports several Victron communication systems, allowing it to integrate a wide range of compatible products.
VE.Direct
VE.Direct connections are commonly used with selected:
- Victron SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers
- Victron BlueSolar MPPT charge controllers
- Victron BMV battery monitors
- Victron SmartShunt battery monitors
- Victron Phoenix inverters
- Other VE.Direct-equipped products
VE.Bus
VE.Bus provides communication with compatible Victron inverter/chargers and inverter systems, including selected:
- MultiPlus
- MultiPlus-II
- Quattro
- VE.Bus inverter systems
This connection allows the Cerbo GX to monitor operating status and provide access to supported controls and settings.
VE.Can and CAN-Bus BMS
The CAN communication interfaces support compatible Victron VE.Can products and selected managed lithium battery systems.
Compatible CAN-bus batteries can communicate important BMS information such as:
- Battery state of charge
- Battery voltage and current
- Battery temperature
- Alarm conditions
- Maximum permitted charge current
- Maximum permitted discharge current
- Charge-voltage limits
The correct manufacturer-specific cable, CAN profile, communication speed and termination arrangement must be used.
USB
USB ports support compatible accessories and communication interfaces. For example, additional VE.Direct products may be connected through suitable VE.Direct-to-USB interfaces when the direct ports are already occupied.
Optional GX Touch Display
The Cerbo GX does not have an integrated display. It can be paired with a separately available:
- Victron GX Touch 50
- Victron GX Touch 70
- Compatible GX Touch flush-mount display
The GX Touch provides a clear, full-colour touchscreen for viewing system information and accessing supported controls locally.
A screen is not essential for operation. The Cerbo GX interface can also be accessed through Remote Console using a compatible phone, tablet or computer.
Tank-Level Monitoring
The Cerbo GX includes dedicated inputs for compatible resistive tank-level senders. This allows supported tanks to be incorporated into the GX interface and monitored alongside the electrical system.
Depending on the sensors and configuration, it may be used to monitor:
- Fresh water
- Waste water
- Fuel
- Diesel
- Other compatible liquid-storage tanks
The sender resistance range and configuration must be compatible with the Cerbo GX. Tank senders are sold separately.
Temperature Monitoring
Compatible Victron temperature sensors can be connected to the Cerbo GX for monitoring selected battery, equipment or environmental temperatures.
Temperature information may be displayed locally or through VRM and can be useful for identifying conditions that may affect battery performance, charging or equipment operation.
Temperature sensors are not included unless specifically stated.
Digital Inputs
The configurable digital inputs can monitor supported external contacts and switches. Depending on the system configuration, they may be used for:
- Door or hatch status
- Bilge-pump operation
- Generator-running indication
- Alarm contacts
- Manual switches
- Other compatible status signals
Each input must be wired and configured according to its intended function.
Generator Start and Stop Control
The Cerbo GX includes programmable relay outputs that can be used with compatible generator-control systems. Generator operation may be configured according to selected conditions, such as:
- Low battery state of charge
- Low battery voltage
- High electrical load
- Scheduled run times
- Loss of AC input
- Manual remote command
- Battery charging requirements
The relay provides a control signal and must not be used to directly power a starter motor or another high-current device. Additional relays, generator interfaces or control modules may be required.
Cerbo GX Compared with Cerbo-S GX
The standard Cerbo GX includes additional direct sensor and communication capabilities compared with the simplified Cerbo-S GX.
The Cerbo GX is generally the more suitable choice when the system requires:
- Direct tank-level sender inputs
- Direct temperature-sensor inputs
- More flexible CAN-system integration
- Expanded monitoring for complex installations
For simpler systems that do not require these features, the Cerbo-S GX may be an alternative.
Typical Applications
The Victron Cerbo GX is ideal for:
- Caravans and camper trailers
- Motorhomes
- Marine and boating systems
- Four-wheel drives and touring vehicles
- Food trucks and mobile businesses
- Service and commercial vehicles
- Off-grid homes and cabins
- Residential energy-storage systems
- Backup-power installations
- Generator-assisted systems
- Solar and battery installations
- Remote equipment
- Telecommunications sites
- Industrial power systems

Installation Information
Install the Cerbo GX in a dry, protected and adequately ventilated location. The unit should remain accessible for cable connection, setup and servicing.
Supply the Cerbo GX through a correctly protected DC circuit. Use the correct communication cable for every connected device and route signal wiring away from high-current conductors where practical.
VE.Direct, VE.Bus, VE.Can, Ethernet and CAN-bus BMS connections are not interchangeable, even when some connectors appear physically similar. Incorrect cabling or port configuration may prevent communication or damage connected equipment.
Please Note
The Cerbo GX is a communication and monitoring device. It does not replace an inverter, charger, solar controller, battery monitor, generator controller or battery-management system.
The GX Touch display, tank senders, temperature sensors, communication cables, CAN terminators and internet connection are sold separately unless specifically stated as included. Compatibility depends on the connected equipment, firmware, communication protocols and system configuration. Professional installation and commissioning are recommended for complex power systems.
