Victron VE.Direct Cable

The Victron Energy VE.Direct Cable is a genuine Victron communication lead designed to connect compatible VE.Direct-equipped devices within a Victron power system. It provides a reliable wired data connection between equipment such as battery monitors, solar charge controllers, inverters, control panels and GX monitoring devices.

Once connected, the cable allows supported operating information to be exchanged between compatible products. Depending on the connected equipment, this may include battery voltage, current, state of charge, solar yield, charging status, inverter operation, alarms and historical performance information.

The cable is supplied pre-terminated with Victron’s dedicated VE.Direct connectors, providing a simple plug-in installation without requiring terminals to be crimped or communication wires to be manually joined.

What Is VE.Direct?

VE.Direct is a Victron communication interface used on many smaller Victron products. It allows compatible equipment to share operational data with displays, monitoring devices and other supported communication accessories.

A VE.Direct connection may be used to link a compatible product to:

• A Victron GX device
• A VE.Direct display or control panel
• Another compatible Victron accessory
• A computer using a separate VE.Direct-to-USB interface
• A mobile device using a separate VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle

GX System Integration

A VE.Direct cable can connect a supported solar controller, battery monitor or inverter to an available VE.Direct port on a Victron GX device.

Once connected and configured, the GX device can display supported information from that product and incorporate it into the overall system overview. If the GX device is connected to the internet and registered with the Victron Remote Management portal, supported data may also be available for remote monitoring.

The number of direct VE.Direct connections is limited by the available ports on the GX device. Additional products may require compatible VE.Direct-to-USB interfaces and available USB capacity.

Reliable Wired Communication

A direct cable connection provides consistent communication without depending on wireless range, pairing or nearby mobile devices. This makes it suitable for permanent installations where system data needs to remain available to a GX device or fixed display.

The cable should be routed separately from high-current conductors where practical and protected against heat, abrasion, sharp edges and moving components.

Installation Information

Switch off or isolate the relevant equipment before connecting the cable where recommended by the product manuals. Align the connector correctly with the VE.Direct port and insert it carefully without forcing or twisting it.

The VE.Direct cable is a communication cable and is not intended to carry the main charging, inverter or battery current. It does not replace power cables, battery cables, fuses or circuit protection.

VE.Direct is different from VE.Bus, VE.Can, CAN-bus BMS and Ethernet. The connectors and communication protocols are not interchangeable. This cable also does not provide a direct USB or Bluetooth connection unless it is used with the appropriate separate Victron interface.
